Andrea Ball
Children's Minister
Andrea has served as Children's Minister at MBC since May 2006. As Children's Minister, she oversees Sunday morning Children's Worship, Wednesday night missions education for children, and special events throughout the year. Andrea also works as a speech-language pathologist for Mercer County Schools. Derek, her husband, is Assistant Director of Financial Aid for Bluegrass Community & Technical College and runs Old Country Daylilies in Salvisa with his grandmother. Andrea and Derek live in Harrodsburg with their two cats, Stash and Stripey, and they are preparing for the birth of their first child, Logan, in September.
Andrea was born and raised in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Derek is originally from Salvisa. Andrea attended the University of Kentucky, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish in August 2004, a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in Communication Disorders in May 2005, and a Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders in May 2007. As an undergraduate student, Andrea was actively involved on the Leadership Council of the Baptist Student Union as the Special Events Council Leader and the Worship Council Leader. Andrea and Derek met at the Baptist Student Union, married in 2003, and spent four years working with Campus Ministries at Georgetown College, where Derek served as Campus Ministry Intern and later as Associate Campus Minister. Andrea has had the opportunity to minister to children in the inner city of Arlington, Texas during three spring break trips with Georgetown students. Andrea first visited Midway Baptist Church in the summer of 2002 as a summer missionary serving on Son Celebration, a singing team based out of Discovery Youth Camp at Camp Cedarmore.
As Children's Minister, Andrea invests in the lives of the children and families of Midway Baptist Church and the community by working with the church staff and Children's Ministry Team to provide quality, kid-friendly worship experiences, Wednesday night programming, and special events. Andrea and Derek believe that attending MBC is well worth the 40-minute drive from Harrodsburg and look forward to raising Logan as part of their church family.
